Let me preface this by saying we can not keep secrets from one another. It’s impossible. I bought her clothes as a surprise today and told her about them the second we got on the phone after work; it’s like a disease. I only hope I can keep my mouth shut when I figure out how/when I’m going to propose…

I went down to Irvine on Wednesday after work to hang out with Rachel. She had been teasing that there was something she was working on, it’d take a long time, and that the bookmarks/history/files on her Mac were so infected with info related to this project that I couldn’t touch the computer anymore. So of course she told me later that night what she was planning.

Hearing Rachel, my girlfriend, utter the word arduino was one of the sexiest things ever. She used to despise my constant talk about technology and now, three and a half years later, she’s talking about soldering me an open source Monome controller and using the arduino as a micro controller. She had the arduino flasher software on her laptop so she could look at how to flash the code to the device. She enlisted the help of her roommate’s talented boyfriend to help work out the kinks in the code…

Now we’re going to work on it together. It’s going to cost almost as much as buying the real deal, but I like it better this way. :)
